Disclaimer: I am wearing a smidgen of makeup in these photos. I did not literally step out of the shower and look this fresh-faced. There is nothing I hate more than women on the Internet pretending they “woke up like this” when they’re def wearing makeup. You’re not fooling anyone, you’re just making your readers feel insecure about their imperfections.
Now that that’s over with, let’s get to the post!
So, I have a confession to make: I am not a natural blonde.
Shocking revelation, I know. I was platinum blonde when I was a kid, but I began fading to a dirty blonde in middle school. My locks have been Gwen Stefani white for most of my adulthood (thanks to peroxide), with bouts of pink and lavender every few months. And all those years of bleaching have done a real number on my hair. In order to keep it as healthy as possible, I only wash and blow dry it once or twice a week. Now you know why I’m rocking a petite ponytail in so many of my outfit posts 🙊.
True story: I discovered Shhhowercap through a targeted Facebook ad. No joke. I was really drawn to their packaging and messaging at first (yes, hello, I work in advertising). But then I was like, “Damn, I actually need one of these!” Bravo ad targeting algorithm. I had previously been using an extra wide headband to hold my little ponytail back in the shower, but the majority of the time my hair would end up getting wet and ruined. Then I’d have to re-blow dry it, causing more breakage and damage. I’ve used those plastic elastic shower caps before, but they’re not re-useable (and literally grow mildew if you don’t throw them out). And let’s be honest, they’re also totally ugly and don’t work that well.
My Shhhowercap is not only adorable, it friggin’ works. The material protects and insulates my hair, and the rubber grip doesn’t budge. The cap dries super quickly, and you can even toss it in your washing machine! Plus, the prints and patterns available are SO damn cute—I’d even wear it out of the house as a turban.
Seriously you guys, I could not be more impressed with my new cap. And any company who helps save our planet (via water conservation and plastic waste reduction) AND produces their products in the ole US of A, has my vote.
This post was in collaboration with Shhhowercap, but all opinions and styling are my own. I always disclose a gifted product with “c/o” (courtesy of). I never accept products from brands I don’t wholeheartedly support. If I don’t actually love a product, I don’t put it on my blog. Period.
