B-A-N-A-N-A-S: Channeling Gwen Stefani

One of my biggest celebrity crushes/style icons is Gwen Tha Queen Stefani. While I may not have her abs, I do have her platinum hair. Annnd not to toot my own horn here, but she is my most compared celebrity look-alike by strangers on the street. To be fair, this is usually in the context of drunk frat bros hollering down 3rd Avenue. And I’m not totally convinced these “compliments” are delivered with the best intentions.

But whatever. She’s Gwen, she’s The Street Style Queen, and I’ll take any comparison to her I can get.

Now, I know this is kind of an uncommon opinion, but I don’t really like jeans. I find them unflattering, restricting, and pretty uncomfortable. I’ve tried everrrrrrry brand under the sun, but nothing seems to work for me. Therefore, you’ll rarely catch me in a pair. That said, this pair of L.A.M.B. acid wash boyfriend jeans (got ’em years before they were cool y’all), have been in my closet for probably close to a decade. I wear them with sneakers, I wear them with heels, I even wear them with snow boots.

Usually when I’m getting dressed I choose one “statement” piece, and work the rest of my outfit around it. But when I’m channeling Gwen, the more statement pieces, the better.

Once you’ve dressed, and before you leave the house, look in the mirror and add at least one thing.
